Independence Day fun with the Christensen's

While we were visiting Palmyra, we stayed in Rochester with Dan and Lisa Christensen.  Lisa Jeppson Christensen and her sister, Linda Jeppson Abegg were frequent guests in our home as they grew up.  They were the same age as Melanie and the three of them became fast friends in 2nd grade.  For a few years, Lisa and Linda came to our home everyday after school.  It was a joyous time and I've loved watching both of these young women become excellent mothers and outstanding women.  They are an inspiration.  Lisa and Dan were very welcoming and Eileen commented to me that even though it has been several years since we saw Lisa, it was like no time had passed at all.

They have 3 adorable children that we had a blast spending time with--James (5), Ruth (3) and Claire (10 months).  James even invited me to sit in the far back of the van and he rested his head on my shoulder.

Lisa and Dan took us to downtown Rochester, NY.  They have a great museum there for visitors.  This museum was excellent.  They had a lot of information presented that the adults would be enjoy at the same time that they have a lot of interactive displays for the children.  Here are Lisa, James and Ruth in the back of a taxi cab that shows a 10 minute video with an overview of Rochester.

And of course, they took us to see High Falls, which is on the Genesee River in downtown Rochester.

In the afternoon, we attended a picnic with friends and neighbors of Dan and Lisa's to celebrate Indepence Day.  What a fun time for them to live surrounded by young families.  To finish off the night, we drove downtown and watched the fireworks over the river.  Rochester is a beautiful city.  I would gladly visit there again.

Thank you Dan and Lisa!
